Omar Asghar Khan Foundation

Voice, Rights & Inclusion

From 2019-26 the Foundation and partners promoted the rights of children, women, youth and other marginalized groups, reaching over 37 million people in 37 districts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Working with local communities and governments, a critical mass of nearly 50,000 volunteers including about 14,000 women were equipped and energized to amplify voices for social inclusion. Vulnerable-led demands for social integration and equity were translated into policies, laws and budgets. Over 20,000 youth volunteers (10,480 women, 10,128 men and 574 transgender persons) took nearly 3,000 social actions to prevent child marriage, leverage social media to stop GBV, and encourage social integration. Through information, training and interactions, attitudes were changed that normalize gender-based violence, child marriage, exclusion and exploitation. 370 local centres became information and referral hubs supporting citizens especially survivors and those at risk of GBV or child marriage to access community support and government services.
