Inclusive Budgets
Dialogues brokered by the Foundation between vulnerable groups and the government led to an allocation of PKR1.4 billion in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Budget FY2025-26 for improved shelters, helpline, and training of first responders to gender-based violence; expanded network of Child Protection Units; affirmative budgets for Persons with Disabilities and non-Muslim citizens; and facilities like Tahaffuz (Protection) Centresfor transgender persons.
Data on equitable distribution of funds generated by regular assessments of provincial budgets since 2005 helped the Foundation, with technical support from Dr. Kaiser Bengali, to suggest revisions in Provincial Finance Commission Awards to better respond to contemporary challenges of social exclusion, gender disparity and climate impacts.
