Rehabilitation Assistance
The Foundation’s detailed assessment of off-budget funds for rehabilitating communities affected by the devastating 2005 earthquake showed that conditional disbursement of house-rebuilding subsidy was not effective. The Foundation’s analysis and data helped reduce government conditionalities and expedited the disbursement of housing subsidy. It also led to the government shifting from conditional to lumpsum cash grants for people affected by subsequent humanitarian crises including the 2010 and 2025 floods and internal displacement due to militancy since 2007.
