A delegation of #AawazII called on the newly appointed Chair of the KP Commission on the Status of Women, Dr. Sumera Shams. Ms. Rakhshanda Naz, Member Aawaz II Provincial Forum congratulated Dr. Shams on her appointment as Chair of a strong KPCSW.

#omarashgarkhanfoundation’s Ms. Rashida Dohad provided details of #AawazII emphasising areas of mutual interest like developing mechanisms for social reintegration of women in Darul Amans, the prompt completion of under construction 5 DUAs and provision of better facilities in the existing 10 DUAs in KP and strengthening tge governance of laws like the DV Act. Inclusion measures like the passage of laws on the rights of TGPs and PWDs, fair distribution of DPR funds, establishment of Tahaffuz and Meesaq Centres and ensuring equity-deserving groups benefit from funds allocated for interfaith harmony were highlighted. The need for KPCSW to take a leadership role in promoting gender responsive budgeting was also discussed. “We are fully committed to pursuing policies and budgets to empower women, prevent GBV and promote social inclusion,” said Dr. Shams. She appreciated #AawazII’s efforts and welcomed its collaboration with KPCSW.
