Governance
Omar Asghar Khan Foundation’s pioneering efforts to popularize social accountability is opening channels of citizen engagement with governments and improving public services and spending. As an exciting democratic innovation, social accountability helps citizens become more active, informed and involved in governance. They assess government performance and identify improvements in the delivery of essential services like schools, healthcare, transport, roads, streetlights, electricity, gas supply, WASH facilities, irrigation and drinking water, veterinary services, agriculture and livestock support, forest management and waste disposal. Citizens also review and recommend impactful spending on economic opportunities, climate resilience and social inclusion. The Foundation-led social accountability promotes collaboration and dialogue between citizens and governments that increases trust in public institutions. The Foundation excels in strategizing and implementing social accountability processes and delivering customized training on it.
