Improved Water Supply for Abbottabad

Completion Ceremony, Abbottabad, 1 June 2022

Since 2021, the Foundation has worked with WSSC and Oxfam to rehabilitate water tanks, upgrade distribution lines, install pumping machinery, construct staff rooms and provide other facilities to improve the supply of water to selected urban communities of Abbottabad. Rs.9.8 million was the cost of the rehabilitation. It is part of a pilot project: Building Resilient Urban Communities (2017-22) implemented with ADB support. The project seeks to increase the resilience of urban communities to climate change impacts.

The DC Abbottabad, Chair and other staff of WSSC, community partners, and, Oxfam & Foundation staff attended its completion ceremony in which the rehabilitated water system was formally handed over to WSSC and an MOU signed under which it will have responsibility for its operations & maintenance.
