Inspired by Omar Asghar Khan a group of activists established an NGO in July 1999 which was formally registered in April 2000 under the Societies Act 1860. Following Omar Asghar Khan’s death under mysterious circumstances in June 2002, the organization under the leadership of Ali Asghar Khan (Omar’s younger brother) decided to direct its future strategy towards taking Omar’s work forward. A new board was constituted, and a revised strategy was formulated.
The Foundation is a national organization with its field base in NWFP. The Foundation has a staff of 60 and offices in Islamabad and Abbottabad
