About Us
Inspired by Omar Asghar Khan a group of activists established an NGO in July 1999 which was formally registered in April 2000 under the Societies Act 1860. Following Omar Asghar Khan's death under mysterious circumstances in June 2002, the organization under the leadership of Ali Asghar Khan (Omar's younger brother) decided to direct its future strategy towards taking Omar's work forward. A new board was constituted, and a revised strategy was formulated.

Omar Asghar Khan Foundation is a national organization with its field base in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It has a staff of 52 and offices in Islamabad and Abbottabad.

Since its inception the Foundation has evolved from its humble beginnings into a national advocacy organization helping citizens assert their citizenship rights and demanding equal opportunities for all without any discrimination based on gender, class, religion or clan. Its programme is organized aroupnd three key themes:
  • Local leadership and institution-building
  • Citizen activism and public accountability
  • Community infrastructure, social services and livelihood security
